Mission Statement:
Our goal is to honor the memory of Steve Gudknecht & Kris Hicks, who were murdered at work during a robbery. Their families have started Two Chefs from Above, Inc to raise money to continue their work by focusing on 3 important issues:
- Assisting people who want to pursue culinary arts as a career, and may need help financing their education. Both young men loved what they did for a living, which was cooking for family, friends and the community. Two Chefs from Above will be awarding scholarships to help these students.
- The Two Chefs will also continue to feed people of the community, from above. This includes supporting John Tumino’s not-for-profit corporation “In My Father’s Kitchen”. IMFK provides food and basic necessities to homeless individuals in the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County, NY.
In My Father’s Kitchen, Inc. (IMFK) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation registered with the New York Department of State. It was founded by John and Leigh-Ann Tumino. Using food, like Stephen and Kristopher did, John and Leigh-Ann assist the homeless population of CNY through direct street outreach. As John and Leigh-Ann build relationships with chronically homeless individuals, they identify and meet the unique needs of homeless people not yet ready to leave the streets, and who refuse to stay in emergency shelters. As a result, IMFK provides food and basic necessitates to homeless individuals where they live on the streets, on a consistent and compassionate basis, until the homeless individual is comfortable accepting help and working with community agencies to secure housing.
It all starts with a Lunch, and a Passion to serve, like Steve and Kris – our Two Chefs. - Education for improved safety for restaurant workers and restaurants. This includes personal safety and workplace safety.
